Ignacia was born on May 15, 1911 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Modesto Silva and Alejandrina Baez. She was a devoted daughter, the oldest of 3 children. Josefa Baez and Benito Silva. She came to the United States in 1946.
Ignacia worked as a seamstress for many years, although she didn't have a formal education, she was a strong smart devoted woman, who often took charge of any situation, she loved her garden, flowers, she loved cooking, dancing and loved coloring books. She was the center of attention in family gathering, sharing experiences, telling jokes and loving life. Every one that knew her just loved her, she was dependable, had a big heart, and loved helping people. She will be greatly missed and remembered as being very sociable. She was a mother/grandmother to all. She is survived by her daughter Julia, son in law Andres, her grandchildren, Carolyn and Jason, her great-grandchildren Tyrese and Prince, great nieces and nephews Lucy, Carmen, Robert, Lisa, Reuben, and many more nieces in Puerto Rico. We would like to thank everyone in Hospice, they were a blessing to our family. The care, dedication and love they showed my mother was just wonderful, we will forever be grateful. We want to specifically thank her previous nurse Debbie, aide Raissia and everyone from Gentiva , and all the recent nurses especially Christine and Aide Dana from Vitas. We also want to thank Lillian the social worker and Claudia Kilpatrick also from Vitas that stayed even after my mom was removed from our home to help us through this hard time, I will be forever grateful.
