Ida Gibson Obituary
Ida Arnold Gibson of Port Orange, FL (formerly of Wall Township and Keyport, NJ) passed away on August 27, 2017 and the age of 80.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert of 42 years, parents Albert and Martha Arnold, and brother Bill Arnold.
Ida is survived by her 2 children, beloved daughter Wendy Misita, grandchildren Tony and Alexis (Port Orange, FL), and beloved son Dr. Glen Gibson, daughter-in-law Tracy, and grandchildren Eric, Alayna and Kelly (Annapolis, MD). Also survived by sisters: Patricia and husband Don Vanderlaan, Carol and husband Ray Demers, Kathy and husband George Planinsek, all in FL. Also survived by 2 brothers: Albert Arnold, Steve Arnold, NJ.
She also leaves behind cousin Louise Haraz (NJ) and many nieces and nephews whom she adored and enjoyed many happy family reunions with.
Ida was born on 4/13/37 in Perth Amboy, NJ. She graduated from Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, earning her RN degree. She earned her BS in Nursing at Bob Jones University in South Carolina. She was employed at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ as a med/surg instructor for 3 years. She also worked at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, FL and Point Pleasant Hospital in NJ. She retired after working at MediCenter Nursing Home in Neptune City, NJ in 1999 after 7 years of part-time service.
Ida loved her Lord, her family and her church family and friends. She was a long-time member of Avon Baptist Church in Avon, NJ. She served there in many areas such as Children's Sunday School teacher, Deaconess, Ladies Bible Study teach, Pioneer Girls leader, Pulpit Supply committee, church clerk, and Mission Board. She was active in a MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers) ministry at the church for 7 years. She received much joy and blessings working with the moms and children.
She enjoyed volunteering for many years at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. Ida also loved reading, traveling, scrapbooking and spending time with her 5 precious grandchildren. We know she is happy in heaven with Jesus and we will see her there someday.
Lohman Funeral Home (Port Orange, FL) will host a viewing (2:00 pm) and service (3:00 pm) on Friday, September 1, 2017. Burial will be at Glendola Cemetery, Wall, NJ through Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home (Wall Township, NJ) on Monday, September 4th.
