Obituary

Howard L. Fowler 92 of Daytona Beach Florida formerly of Fort Fairfield Maine died on September 14 2010 at his home. He was born August 25 1918 in Fort Fairfield the son of Myra and Leslie Fowler. He graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1936. He married his high school sweetheart Lois Cronkite in 1940 and they have remained a loving couple for 70 years. Howard was a successful potato farmer for 40 years and was active in the Maine Potato Council and served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Land Bank and the Maine Potato Growers Association. He also served on the Fort Fairfield School Board Lions Club and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Howard enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing trips to the Allagash region and maintaining the family cottage at Long Lake. Howard and Lois moved to Daytona Beach in 1978. He worked as a park ranger for several years and enjoyed spending the summer months with family in Aroostook County. Surviving family members include his wife Lois; their five children Marilyn Seidler of Daytona Beach Florida; James Fowler and his wife Linda of Concord New Hampshire; Phyllis Smith and her husband David of Caribou Maine; Steven Fowler and his wife Angelia of Howland Maine; and Wendell Fowler of Caribou Maine.
