Homer Edward Chilson,"Chil", 97, a resident of Ormond Beach for 31 years, passed away at Halifax Health Hospice on Friday, July 15, 2016. Homer was born in Northampton, Massachusetts on June 12, 1919. He graduated Class of '42 from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, with a B.A. in Industrial Engineering. Homer served in the U. S. Navy during WWII, in 1944-1945. He then had a 35 year career with Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT. He resided in Fairfield, CT and then retired to Ormond Beach in 1985. Woodworking and gardening were his favorite hobbies. He could build and fix just about anything. Homer was predeceased by his first wife, Sarah, and his second wife, Barbara; he is survived by his children Holly and Dale, his wife Kathy, his grandchildren Courtney and Blake, great-granddaughter Ava, and granddogs Brittni and Cammi. Also, his stepdaughters Cheryl and Joan, and their extended families. A funeral service will be held for Homer at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, 733 West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Homer's name to Halifax Health Hospice, 235 Booth Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
