Homer Winfrey Bowen, 84 passed away December 31,2014 at his residence. Homer was born in Levi, West Virginia. Mr. Bowen enlisted in to the Air Force in 1947 and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in the Medical Aerovac unit in Korea. After leaving the Air Force in the 50's he went to school to become an aircraft mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for Capitol Airlines. In the early 60's Homer moved to Daytona Beach with his family. Mr Bowen worked at the Daytona Beach Airport as a mechanic for a few years then transitioned to the Ormond Beach Post office where he worked until he retired in the early 90's. Later in life, he enjoyed working for George Baker in New Smyrna on the hobby of restoration of vintage WWII aircrafts. Mr. Bowen helped found the South Daytona R/C Model Yacht Club and was an avid member for many years. Homer is survived by a son, George Bowen, and two grandchildren, Leah Bowen and Josh Bowen.
A graveside service is planned for Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11am at the Daytona Memorial Park.
