Hilda C Mason

Hilda Cato Mason 98, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2021, in Daytona Beach, FL. Hilda was born on July 28, 1923 in Daytona Beach FL. to Roy and Hilda Cato. She grew up in Daytona and graduated from Campbell Street High School. Hilda moved to New York with her mother and her two siblings. While in New York she met and married her husband David Mason, they had three children, Taroo, Randy, and Dorian Mason. Hilda and David were married for over 70 years. She worked as a toll booth clerk for New York City Transit Authority for over 20 years.

Upon retirement Hilda and David returned to Daytona Beach with their son Randy and grandson David where they resided until now. Hilda was a kind and loving person, she had a great heart for family and friends, loved to cook and bake which she was great at. Her laughter would light up a room. She will be truly missed by all of us.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Hilda Cato, her husband, David Mason, son, Randy Mason and brother, Ralph, R. Cato. She is survived by her sons, Taroo and Dorian Mason, grandchildren, David Mason, Kijana Kiki Mason, four beloved great grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy, Edna and  husband, Carnell,  Phyliss and husband, Ricky, Julia and husband, Johnny; brothers, Ricky and wife Lillian, Don and wife, Roxanne, Ponce and wife, Shirley.; Sister-in-law, Denise.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The void she leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved her is great. She will forever be in our hearts. A wake will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 6pm until 8pm at Lohman Funeral Home at 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach, FL 32114, and the Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Tuesday November 23, 2021 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church at 700 Dr. M.L. King Jr Blvd Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
