Hilda Flye Holster, 98, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 28, 2019 at Wilson Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson, NC. Hilda Holster was born in Edgecombe County, North Carolina on November 6, 1921. She was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Elsie (Vick) Flye and by her husband of 61 years, Henry P. Holster. Hilda is survived by her five children; Robert Holster and his wife Carlotta of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, by Susan Holster Ellis and her husband Larry of Elm City, North Carolina, Stephen Holster and his wife Joy of Williamston, North Carolina, Ruth Ann Holster Myers and her husband David of Bailey, North Carolina, and Elizabeth Holster Squillacote and her husband Steven of Ormond Beach, Florida. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Andrew Holster, Brett Holster, Sherry Ellis Harris, Kristina Ellis-Godoy, Courtney Holster Simmons, Jacob Holster, Chelsea Squillacote, Dahle, Steven "Chip" Squillacote, and Michael Squillacote, and by nine great-grandchildren, Lauren Holster, Henry Holster, Parks Harris, Paul Harris, Isabella Godoy, Elijah Godoy, Savannah Simmons, Hali Dahle and Liam Dahle. Hilda was a military wife to Lt. Col. Henry P. Holster, upon retirement the couple retired to Ormond Beach, Florida.  Hilda moved to Wilson, North Carolina in 2006 after the death of her husband, who was fondly known as "Bud". She became a member of the Wilbanks Christian Church in Elm City and all who knew Hilda loved and respected her for her grace and sweet spirit as well as for her steadfast faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. When sharing how she would liked to be remembered, she wrote the following; I have been loving and caring in my relationships with others and have done my best in all circumstances. Hilda will be sorely missed by her loving family and friends. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Hilda will take place at Joyner's Funeral Home in Wilson, North Carolina on January 8, 2020. There will be a time for visiting with Hilda's family from 6:00 ~ 7:00 with the service immediately following at 7:00 pm. Hilda will be transported to Ormond Beach, Florida for a graveside ceremony which will be held on Friday, January 10 ^th at Volusia Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bud. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be made in Hilda's memory to the Wilbanks Christian Church or to Hope Station in Wilson, NC, a charity that Hilda supported for many years.
