Henry A. Simmons 93 of Edgewater Fl passed away on Wednesday July 6 2011. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday July 9 2011 at Edgewater New Smyrna Beach Cemetery 700 S. Ridgewood Ave Edgewater Fl.

Henry was born on December 3 1917 in Miami Fl to the late Mary Etta and Odo Calno Simmons. Following High School Henry enlisted in the United States Army serving proudly in World War II.A retired detective for the City of Miami Henry was the first officer in the nation to wear Bermuda shorts to work. He was also owner of Henry's Aquariums which at one time was the largest retail aquarium in Miami.

A devoted father and true story teller at heart Henry delighted his children and grandchildren in stories of "Bingo the Whale". When Henry could attend church he was a parishioner at Temple Baptist Church in Titusville. He also enjoyed gardening metal detecting and spending time with his family.

Henry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nita.

Survivors include his loving children Peggy Hughey of Edgewater Mike (Melanie) Simmons of Orlando Sharon (J) Bennett of Edgewater five grandchildren seven great grandchildren brothers Oscar Simmons of Miami Fl and Tommy Simmons of Fellsmere Fl and sister Doris Hommel of Islamorada Fl.
