IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry Joseph
Leyland, Jr.
July 16, 1933 – January 20, 2026
Henry Joseph Leyland, Jr., 92, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was born on July 16, 1933, in Lawrence, Massachusetts and later attended Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts and later earned his master's degree from Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire. Henry was a school principal for 41 years with the Westford School District. He was more than a principal – the children and their families became a part of his own family. He earned the respect of the teachers and the parents. He was a trustworthy man of his word, kind, generous, and giving. As devoted to his community as he was, Henry was more devoted to his family. He loved to travel with the love of his life, Joan. They loved to walk the beach, go on cruises, traveled throughout Europe, and Australia. His favorite trip was to Hawaii, where they enjoyed the beach, the breathtaking sunsets, the people and the Polynesian culture. When Henry was well, he enjoyed line dancing and square dancing with Joan.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan Leyland; daughter, Patricia "Tricia" Hayes (husband, Rick Hayes); grandson, Andrew Hayes; granddaughter, Caroline Hayes; granddaughter, Emma Hayes; and other extended family and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elsie Leyland, Sr.
There will be a Mass on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11AM at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church located at 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach, Florida 32176.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond Beach.
