Henry Frank Harden, Jr., a longtime resident of the Daytona Beach area, passed away Saturday the 24th of September at Emory L. Bennett Memorial Veterans Nursing Home at the age of 79.

Born in 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, Henry enlisted and proudly served in the United States Air Force upon graduation from the Dobbins Vocational and Technical School. During his 4 years in the USAF, Henry travelled extensively throughout the Orient while working on the Guided Missile Program. After his honorable discharge, he began a 20+ year career with General Electric in Philadelphia, Denver, Tuscan, and Daytona Beach writing technical programs for mostly government entities such as NASA. Henry continued his career with Ian Martin Corporation, QComp Communications, and after semi-retiring, the City of Port Orange while staying very active in local politics.

Henry "Bud" Harden loved travelling, politics, and sports, with his absolute passion being golf. He was fortunate to play at some of the best courses in the country and won several amateur tournaments. After suffering a stroke at the age of 54, Bud developed golf clubs for the disabled that could be used while sitting.

Henry Frank Harden, Jr. is preceded in death by his son, Douglas. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Hollenbach, four children: Diana Hopkins, Suzanne Salgado, James, David and eleven grandchildren: Gennaro, Abby, T.J., Miranda, Blake, Grace, Alexis, Alec, Alyssa, Alaina, and Ashlynn.
