Helene Rose (Janeczek) Calabro, 82, of DeBary, FL, passed away on May 11, 2018.  She was born in Springfield, MA, and grew up there as well as in FL.  She was the first of three children born to Stephen and Rose Janeczek.  A sister, Irene, remains, and a brother, Stephen, is deceased.  She leaves behind five children, Antonia, Stephen, Robert, Thomas and Salvatore III; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  She graduated from American International College and went on to receive two Master's degrees

She also earned an RN degree from Daytona State College and held jobs in nursing, teaching, and special ed.  She enjoyed teaching religious and Biblical studies to young and old, and initiated a nursing home ministry in E. Longmeadow, MA.

The family will receive friends Monday May 14, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home Deland 935 E. New York Ave. Deland from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be Tuesday May 15, 2018 at Deland Memorial Gardens, Deland FL

Her accomplishments do not overshadow her devotion to her family as a widowed single mom.  She had a "can do" perseverance and strength.  We'll miss her. . . a lot.
