Obituary

Helen Reiter Strasser (92), passed away peacefully in her Ormond Beach home on March 31st, 2022, she was surrounded with her family and loved ones.
Helen was born on September 14th, 1929, to Dr. Ralph & June Reiter in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. After graduation, Helen moved to Florida to be with her sister Ginny Rugg.
In 1949, Helen Reiter met Charlie Strasser on the beach in Ormond. Helen and Charlie went on to marry in 1951 and have 4 children: Connie, Chuck, Scott, and Leeann. Helen and Charlie also launched a successful commercial and residential construction business – Strasser Construction.
Helen and Charlie started this business on weekends in their spare time, building houses while their kids played in huge piles of red dirt entertaining themselves. You would frequently see Helen designing the homes, carrying cement bags, or even laying bricks to ensure the project got done. She was a perfectionist and always wanted things done in a certain way. In 1959, after building and flipping numerous houses the young couple had finally saved up enough to officially open Strasser Construction and make this their permanent job. The family business then went on to build several notable businesses around the area such as Automall, Harley Davidson, Radisson Hotel, Friday's, Airline/Shawny and much, much more.
Helen loved the outdoors, whether walking the beach, swimming or planting her flowers. She also loved to design and make clothes, especially for her children. Helen was most passionate about her family. She loved all her children, grandchildren and extended family dearly. She was very devoted to her family and frequently hosted holidays, including Easter egg hunts and making spectacular snow villages for Christmas. Helen cherished these moments and memorialized them by hanging pictures all through the house.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Charlie Strasser and son Chuck Strasser. She is survived by Children: Connie Strasser, Scott Strasser, Leeann Collyer
• Grandkids: Meagan (Juan) Silva, Faith (Mitch) Wilson, Kevin Strasser, Nicole Collyer, Destiny Strasser
• Great grandkids: Claire Silva, Ari Silva and one expected from Faith Wilson
