Helen Claire Garry 93 of Ormond by the Sea entered into eternal life at 11:59 p.m. October 2 2008 at Avante Nursing Home in Ormond Beach.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 7 at the Epiphany Catholic Church in Port Orange with burial in the Volusia Memorial Cemetery in Ormond Beach. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Florida Hospital Hospice Care 770 W. Helen was born March 20 1915 in Jersey City New Jersey the daughter of Earl and Helen (Hield) Mooreshouse. She graduated from the Union City High School in Union City New Jersey where she was the president of her class and then graduated with a nursing degree from St. Mary's in Hoboken New Jersey. She loved being a member and attending the Epiphany Catholic Church in Port Orange. Her hobbies include knitting and crocheting especially for all of her family. When Claire & her husband John first moved to Ormond by the Sea in 1974 she became an active member of St. Brendan's Women Catholic Sodality as historian. Later in her life she became a member of Epiphany Catholic Church for the past 8 Years.
Survivors include sons: Fr. Brian Garry S.J. of Ormond by the Sea Mark Garry of Port Orange; grandchildren: Stephanie Hagstrom Matthew Tudisco Nicole Tudisco; great-grandchildren: Sean Hagstrom Tyler Hagstrom James Garry Jr. Zachary Garry Lucas Garry Grace Garry Michael Tudisco Katie Tudisco Jack Tudisco and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents daughter: Margot Garry grandson: James Garry; one brother and seven sisters.
