Helen J. "Dodie" Ulery (August 26, 1947 - January 10, 2025)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Helen J. (Donder) Ulery, fondly known as Dodie, on January 10, 2025. Born on August 26, 1947, Dodie was a beloved wife, mother, and a talented artist.

Dodie is survived by her devoted husband, Roger B. Ulery, and her cherished daughter, Gina Ulery Trauthwein. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unmatched creativity, and most of all for her love of life – both human and wildlife. Roger and Dodie rescued countless animals throughout their 50+ year marriage, including over 20 dogs, several birds, ferrets, turtles, and many other critters needing help. She always had dog biscuits in her pocket and blankets in her trunk. Dodie also loved plants and was a Master Gardener, with a particular fondness for butterfly gardening.

As a freelance writer, Dodie has published several books available on Amazon and hundreds of articles that have appeared in magazines such as National Geographic and Florida Gardening. Her talent extended to photography, pine needle basketry, palmistry, meditation, tarot, and she loved sharing her passions with others, often hosting classes in her home. Her legacy of creativity and openness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
