Helen C. Belanger, 93, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13 , 2022 .

The daughter of the late Anthony and Dorothy Califano, she was born in Schenectady, N.Y. on February 12, 1928. She was married to the late William R. Belanger for 58 years.

In 1963 they moved from NY to Daytona Beach . Subsequently, Helen resided in Ormond Beach for 44 years.

She retired from Father Lopez High School where she taught French, English and Journalism. She loved to draw and will be remembered for the many cards she created and sent to friends and family.

Later in life she began swimming at the Trails pool where she made many lifelong friends. Helen volunteered at Florida Hospital in Ormond Beach and also at the Prince of Peace Like New Shop. The days she spent there were some of her happiest times.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Paula Amrhein and Marie Kramer (Robert) and one son, William Belanger (Carol). Her six grandsons, Patrick, Kevin, Joe, Michael, Kyle and Thomas (also known as 1,2,3,4,5,6) were the lights of her life. She also had six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 1:30-2:30 pm at Prince of Peace Church, 600 S. Nova Road in Ormond Beach. A funeral Mass will follow at 2:30 in the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Prince of Peace Catholic Social Services.
