Hazel E. Zapf 90 of Port Orange passed away June 13 2009. She was born on August 6 1918 in Alexandria Bay New York and during her working years she was a supervisor in the textiles industry. During the 80's Hazel and her late husband Judge Merrill Zapf to whom she was married 20 years traveled frequently to Florida. In 1994 she permanently relocated to Port Orange. Hazel made many good friends in her neighborhood loved to socialize and always looked forward to her afternoon cocktail at "The Dock" tavern. She was truly the life of the party. Her hobbies included word puzzles embroidery and Bingo. Her family will remember her most for her sense of humor and her firm beliefs. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by sons Ronald (Cindy) Steele of Melbourne FL William Steele of Central SC; daughters Shirley (Robert) Boulton of Depauville NY Joan (Stephen) Rowell of Port Orange FL Jane (Thomas) Nohe of Manchester NY; brother Merton (Bertha) Ferrell of Clayton NY; sisters Demaris Horning of Clayton NY and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Virgina Holmes. Services will be private.
