Hazel I.  Shaw

July 27, 1927 ~ September 6, 2022

Hazel Irene Sawyer Shaw, known affectionately as Mother Dear, transitioned peacefully on September 6th, 2022. She was born on July 27th, 1927, in Coconut Grove, FL to the late Leonard Sawyer and Irene Hudson Sawyer.

Hazel Shaw was a devoted member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church (Father Neville Chrichlow), Asia Court #1 Daughters of Sphinx and the Senior Oasis. She worked in the hospitality industry as a Certified Professional Food Manager and Dietitian. Her hobbies included solving word search puzzles, gardening, sharing her wisdom and providing spiritual guidance.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving devoted children Doris Shaw Ray (John), S. David Shaw (Lillie) and Winston P. Shaw (Cynthia). Grandchildren Valerie Ray-Greer, Redelia Shaw, David Reginald Shaw, Katrina Shaw Almest (Remundo, Sr)., and Tyrreia Hurt. Ten (10) great-grand children and a host of loyal relatives and friends.

The viewing will be on Thursday, September 15th, at Lohman's Funeral Home, 1423 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, from 5 -7 pm, and at St. Timothy's on September 16th from 10 to 10:45 am, followed by "The Celebration of Life" that will begin at 11 am. The Graveside Service will be at Daytona Memorial Park at 12:30 pm at 1425 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach.
