Hay Van Le of Ormond Beach, beloved husband of Lan Le, passed away on Friday, May 7th at 3:33 PM.  Hay was a hero, a captain in the South Vietnamese Army, who escaped from Communist Vietnam and started over in America in 1980.  He worked for the Pennsylvania department of transportation as a Civil Engineer for 20 years in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  This dedicated father, full of hope, was also a hero to his 4 children and a nephew: Nguyen (spouse Mong Diep), Nhu-Y (husband Hung), Dai (spouse Denise), Trung (deceased) and Son (spouse Dung). He taught them to live with love and respect and to appreciate each day to its fullest.  He took care of his family and touched the lives of many, including his 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild who all aspire to embody his spirit and tenacity. He lives on in their hearts and he will truly be missed.

Dad is a simple family man with a very kind heart. He liked Starbuck's coffee, good fried chicken, and "cơm tấm bì sườn chả". Dad enjoyed watching football, and loves top wear sports caps, e.g. Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Penn State.  Finally, and most importantly, Dad had always been proud of his family and his Vietnamese American heritage.
