Obituary

Harry Radcliffe passed peacefully on June 21, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living facility, Ormond Beach. Born June 2, 1922 to Lewis and Rose Radziwiller in Philadelphia, Pa., Harry spent his early life in Brooklyn, New York, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School at the age of 16. He went on to study Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, graduating in Feb., 1945. While at Cornell Harry met Doris Nell Beard who became his wife November 24, 1944. They were married 74 years before Doris' death on February 24, 2017. Harry received a commission in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in Denmark, Alabama, Germany, Ft. Hamilton, N.Y., and Philadelphia, Pa. While stationed in Odense, Denmark, Harry and Doris found and adopted identical twin daughters, Rosalyn (deceased 3/21/71) and Jacquelyn from Lubeck, Germany. After serving 20 years of dedicated service in support of the military's food supply, Harry and his family moved to Florida. It was in Ormond Beach that Harry partnered with Dr. Ralph (Rusty) Taylor to build and open Tomoka Pines Veterinary Hospital on Nova Road in 1973. He was also instrumental in opening the first Emergency Clinic in the Daytona Beach area. After moving from their long-time home on John Anderson Drive, Doris and Harry enjoyed heading up the social committee at the Cloverleaf condominium in Daytona Beach Shores. After finally retiring from his second career in 1994 Harry and Doris enjoyed many trips out west and cruises to Alaska, the islands, and Norway and Sweden. Harry enjoyed boating, fishing, reading and crossword puzzlesand socializing with friends. Harry is survived by his daughter, Jackie Panton (Orlando, Fl.), grandsons: Joshua (Tennessee), Chris (California) and Stephan (Japan), two great-grandchildren and many beloved nephews, nieces and close friends. Harry will be sadly missed for his generosity and mentoring wisdom.
