Harold W. Bud Whitesell Ormond Beach September 4 1919-May 3 2004 was originally from Middletown Ohio. He was a World War II veteran member of the Masonic Order and member of the Ormond Beach Moose Lodge. Bud went to work for the Post Office in the late 1940s. In the 1950s he owned Shaddock?s Market in Middletown. He moved to Florida in 1958 spending several years in the citrus business. In the early 1960s he joined the New Smyrna Fire Department and then rejoined the postal service. In the late ''''60s he transferred to the Post Office in Ormond Beach. He retired from the Post Office in 1986.

Bud loved his neighbors and his community. He spent the past few years volunteering with the Citizen Observer Patrol COP of the Volusia County Sheriff?s Office. In 2002 Bud was recognized by COP as volunteering over 1 000 hours the most by any COP volunteer. He was also an avid model train enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma Whitesell and second wife Pauline Whitesell. Survivors include: a son Michael Whitesell and daughter-in-law Shayne of West Chester PA; stepdaughters Sondra Riddle of Bunnell FL and Paula Crawford of Auburn KY; sister Laura Lou Owens of Middletown OH; three step-grandchildren Mike Crawford Mark Crawford and Lauren Young; and three step-great grandchildren Caitlin Crawford Taylor McFall and John Astin Young.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 4 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Ormond Funeral Home. There will be a Funeral Service on Wednesday May 5 at 10:00 am with a visit one hour prior to the service at Ormond Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bud?s honor to Citizen Observer Program of Volusia County P.O. Box 569 Deland FL 32721-0569.
