Harold Simpson beloved husband of 70 years to Roberta passed away on July 22 2007 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 92. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 24th at 2pm at Lohman Funeral Home in Ormond Beach. Interment will be at Edes Falls Cemetery in Casco Maine with Hall Funeral Home in charge. Harold was born July 15 1915 to Walter and Bertha Simpson in Dover New Hampshire but resided in Maine most of his life and spent winters in Florida during his retirement. He was an Eagle Scout a member of the Odd Fellows and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. His career spanned many years as a newspaper pressman first at the Massachusetts Eagle Tribune then the Portland Maine Church World and lastly the Portland Press Herald in Maine until he retired. His joy was the outdoors especially the seaside in Maine and Florida. His other passion was building and he constructed five homes finishing the last one at the age of 89. Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife Roberta; two daughters Judith Stevenson and Glenna Jillson; four grandchildren Christina Moody Ruth Howe Jason Jillson and Melinda Leahy; and nine great grandchildren Amber Justin and Daniel Howe; Danielle Ben James and Nathan Moody; and Sierra and Emerson Leahy. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Florida Hospital Hospice Oceanside 264 S. Atlantic Ave. Ormond Beach FL 32176.
