Hal Mitchell Wallace 78 of Woodhaven Circle Ormond Beach FL a native of Andersonville Tennessee died March 11th at Florida Memorial Hospital. Mr. Wallace moved here from Tennessee in 1953. A Navy Medical Corps veteran he served in World War II in the European Theater. He was a survivor of the fatal wartime tragedy ?Operation Tiger? off the coast of England.

He retired as supervisor of Special Education for Volusia County Schools and was recognized for his many years of dedicated service to Exceptional Student Education by the Council for Exceptional Children. He was a member of Volusia Education Ass?n National Educational Ass?n and Council for Exceptional Children. He was also on the Board of WORC.
He earned a Bachelor?s degree from Maryville College Maryville Tennessee and a Master?s degree in Education from Appalachian State College in Boone NC.
He was a member of Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church and served a term on the Evangelism Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Stella Wallace and by his sister Mary Kate Bennett.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy and his daughter Beverly. He is also survived by his sister Jane Goins of Icard NC and brother Glen Ornard Austin and his loving stepmother Pauline Carden both of Grayson GA and many cousins nieces and nephews and great and grand nieces and nephews.

An announcement of memorial service will be made in the near future and will be held at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.
