Obituary

August 18, 1941 – October 3, 2026

Guilio "Gege" A. Roy passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at the age of 85, with his family by his side. He was born on August 18, 1941, in Winsted, Connecticut, to the late Paul and Nancy Roy.

Gege was the devoted husband of Karen Roy, whom he married in 1967. Together they shared 59 loving years and built a life centered on family, travel, and countless cherished memories.

Gege proudly served his country in Company C, 319th Security Agency of the United States Army, while stationed in Germany. The number "319" remained meaningful to him throughout his life. After returning home, he enjoyed racing stock cars at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York and proudly drove car number 319, a tribute to the Army unit where he had served.

He began his career at Union Pin in Winsted, Connecticut, before moving to Ormond Beach, Florida, in 1979, where he helped start up a pin manufacturing company. He later spent a significant portion of his career as a machinist with Homac Manufacturing. In retirement, he remained active by working for more than 10 years at River Bend Golf Club, where he enjoyed the work, the game he loved, and the many friendships he formed along the way.

Gege loved playing and watching sports, especially golf. He spent countless hours on the fairways and greens, bonding with family, catching up with friends, and passing down his love of life one swing at a time. He was also a devoted NASCAR fan and proud Ford loyalist, working at Daytona International Speedway during Speedweeks for more than 20 years.

He loved to travel, especially cruises with Karen, and explore new places with those closest to him. Music and dancing were also special parts of his life, and he never passed up an opportunity to boogie on the dance floor. Some of his greatest joys were life's simplest pleasures: a bowl of ice cream, trying his luck with a scratch-off ticket, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He was happiest when everyone was together, laughing and enjoying one another's company.

Gege was a gentle, generous man who gave so much of himself to the people around him. He will be deeply missed, but his stories, his competitive yet caring spirit, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Nancy Roy, and his brother, Paul Roy. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Roy; his son, Jayson Roy (Cathy); his daughter, Angel Pinkerton (Lynn); and his three grandchildren, Morgan Pinkerton, Justin Roy, and Todd Roy, who affectionately knew him as "Gooch." He is also survived by his brothers Louie Roy and Fred Roy, and his sister, Rosie Morton (Paul). He will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
