Grace Shi Zhaung, 52, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on Thursday September 13, 2018 at Florida Hospital Flagler after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday September 15, 2018 at The Chinese Christian Church of Jacksonville, 2100 Corporate Square Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32216, phone (904)727-3800, with the Reverend Tony Wang officiating. Grace was born on December 31, 1965 in Qingdao, China to Baoshan Zhuang and Lilan Shi. After her studies she began her career in the hotel industry working in the accounts department at the five-star Qingdao Dynasty Hotel where she worked for 12 years. In 1996 she immigrated to America and resided in Flushing, New York. Grace worked in the restaurant business and after a few years became a successful Owner/operator of "Kashiwa" restaurant in Long Island, New York. In 2006 cancer forced her to sell the business and she moved to Palm Coast, Florida in 2007. While in Florida the cancer was in remission and she ran an Export Business and a Massage Therapy Business. In 2012 cancer reoccurred and once again forced Grace to sell her businesses and focus all her energy to battling the illness. She fought a courageous battle for many years and finally succumbed to the dreadful disease. She was a member of The Chinese Christian Church of Jacksonville. Grace loved gardening, sewing, traveling and her church family. She was an outstanding cook and loved spending time with her family. She was a beautiful woman inside and out who had a genuine love for people and always put the needs of others first. Everyone that knew her loved her. She was a very special lady that will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband, Scott Doane of Palm Coast; son, Shangkun Yu and Amanda Guan of Hinesville, Georgia; her parents, Baoshan Zhuang and Lilan Shi of Qingdao, China; father in-law, Charles Doane of Danbury, New Hampshire; and family members, Jacky, Helen and Qi of Long Island, New York. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made in her memory to The Florida Hospital Flagler Cancer Research, 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida, 32164.
