Grace Lewis Bultman 74 died on Monday May 12 2008 surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Born on November 30 1933 in Jacksonville FL Grace enjoyed 53 years of marriage with her loving husband Charles and greatly influenced the lives of her six children ten grandchildren three great-grandchildren and extended family. A life-long learner Grace earned her Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages (Spanish & French) from the University of South Carolina in 1955 a Masters of Arts in English from Stetson University in 1983 and audited a literature class two years ago under Dr. Michael Raymond her mentor at Stetson University. Grace touched the lives of many students during her long teaching career. While raising her children she taught Spanish at St. James Episcopal School then substituted at many local schools in Volusia County from 1968-1979. After earning her Master's Degree at age 50 Grace taught at Ormond Beach Junior High School from 1983-1985 Seabreeze High School from 1985-1995 and Atlantic High School from 1995-1997. Her most prized award was Teacher of the Year at Seabreeze High School in 1991-92. Her professional organizations included the Volusia County Council of Teachers of English (past president and program-chair) the Florida Council of Teachers of English (past secretary) and the National Council of Teachers of English (past Affiliate Leader for Volusia County). Her great love of literature led her to volunteer for many years as a reader/recorder for the Talking Books program for the Division of Blind Services in Daytona Beach. Grace recorded books before her retirement in 1997 up until she was diagnosed with her illness in 2006. Grace is survived by her husband Charles F.J. Bultman Jr.; six children: Paula Jones (spouse Larry) Charles F.J. Bultman III (spouse Vicky) Louise Pomar (spouse Fred) Josie Coulson (spouse CJ) Susan Peterson (spouse Dan) and Kathleen Beal; ten grandchildren: Michael and Kelly Jones Aaron Bultman (spouse Amber) Christopher Bultman (spouse Christy) Rachel Bultman Grogan (spouse Scott) Ashley Bultman Leslie and David Pomar Jennifer and Matthew Beal; three great-grandchildren: Caitlyn Pomar Jada Bultman and Jamison Bultman; a brother Russ Jackson (spouse Sharon); a nephew Merritt Wilson (spouse Diane). Grace was predeceased by her sister Betty Wilson. Grace and her husband Charles were blessed with a second family: Eddie Mruz Mary Black Karol Ann Dickinson Charles Mruz and Ellen Hitzing after the untimely deaths of their parents Edward and Eleanor Mruz. She will be greatly missed by her family many friends and colleagues. The celebration of Grace's life will be held Monday May 19th at 5:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL with Fr. Richard Grasso of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Rev. Judy Mathis of St. James Episcopal Church officiating.
