Gloria Rose Sheehan left this earth for eternal rest on November 28, 2024.

Born January 9, 1932, in the Bronx, New York, to Enrico and Fedora Fedele, Gloria moved to Daytona Beach, FL with her family in 1947. She graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1949, attended Barry College and obtained her RN from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She worked at Halifax Hospital from 1954 to 1962 and then at Humana Hospital from 1975 to 1991 before retiring. She often claimed she started as a nurse so long ago that she knew Florence Nightingale, but we have no direct proof of this.

She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Sheehan, in 1954. They were married 50 years, until his death in 2004.

A faithful member of the Basilica of St. Paul for over 78 years, Gloria continued her service to others as sacristan, as a Eucharistic Minister to the Sick and as a Bereavement Minister, as well as supporting other parish activities. In 2000, Gloria and Paul were awarded The Order of Saint Paul for faithful, zealous and exemplary witness to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus.

Gloria's favorite pastimes were the times spent with family and friends, her ministry work, reading mystery novels, and doing crossword puzzles. She never met a dessert she didn't like. Her Rosary was her "lifeline".

Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Paul Sheehan; her parents; and her daughter, Mary Lawrence. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Peshek; her son, Timothy (Diane) Sheehan; her daughters, Theresa Sheehan (Tom Turrentine), Catherine (Jim) Gear, and Patricia (Rich) Trzybinski; her son-in-law Mark Lawrence; 9 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Basilica School of St. Paul, 317 Mullally Street, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Basilica of St. Paul, December 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM, with interment immediately following at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
