Obituary

Shaffer Gloria Diane 80 born September 25 1931 in Hornell N.Y. formally of Ft. Lauderdale FL; passed away peacefully in her sleep on Mother's Day at Grace Manor in Port Orange after a long illness. Funeral Services will be held Thursday May 17 2012 10am at the funeral home with The Rev. Jeff Burke of Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church will be officiating. A visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm on Wednesday May 16 2012 at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange 1201 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange FL. Interment will Follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Gloria was a devoted and loving daughter sister wife mother grandmother & great-grandmother to her husband of 61 years Raymond J. Shaffer Sr. Summer Trees Port Orange a son; Ray Jr. of Port Orange daughter Andrea M. Cragett of Shawsville VA.; grandchildren Noah Matthew & Lisette of Memphis TN. Christina Julie Jordan and Desiree of Shawsville VA.; brother John Gates Sr. of Lake Keowee Seneca S.C. and five great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening collecting art travel camping her cat throwing parties for all of her dear friends during all of the holidays. She was an accomplished singer and world traveler in the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church Choir retired manager of product maintenance agreements for Sears Roebuck & Company South Florida Region. Her love caring and wit will be missed by all. The family would like to especially express their undying love and gratitude to the entire staff of Grace Manor ALF 1321 Herbert St. Port Orange for their kindness and caring love and for making our mother's final months a happy and bearable existence in her time of need and also for their compassion friendship and love in helping our father during our mother's final days on this earth. A special thank you to the end of her life nurses Carol and Linda from Odyssey Hospice for providing care and love for both her and our family in her final days. We will be forever indebted and grateful to all of you for eternity. Thank you. The family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Cure Foundation at www.alz.org to help find a cure for Dementia.
