Glennis K. Epling 88 of Fairview Avenue Daytona Beach FL formerly of Ellwood City PA passed to a new life May 11 2006 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was born October 13 1917 to the late Morey and Mae Bell Pursley near Spencer WV where she grew up and married her High School sweetheart Clyde F. Epling who preceded her in death on February 21 1981. She was also preceded in death by their eldest son Robert L. Epling December 26 1995. Glennis is survived by a daughter Lois Ann Vochisky of Harrison City PA and a son David R. Epling of Topeka Kansas 13 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren 5 great- great grandchildren and many nieces nephews and cousins. Glennis will be remembered for her friendly smile and pleasant and humorous personality. She loved to write and act in humorous skits for the enjoyment of fellow senior residents at Central Manor Apts. where she lived since 1987 and also worked the front desk where she was in contact with all the residents each day for 15 years retiring again at age 85. Her first retirement was 1981 when she retired from the JC Penney Co. in Ellwood City PA where she had been employed for 28 years retiring as supervisor of Catalog and Credit Departments. Glennis is also survived by one brother H. Willis Pursley of Parkersburg WV who is the last of the family of 10 children 4 brothers having preceded her in death and also 4 sisters. Glennis was the 9th Child of the big family. Glennis always loved school and learning after graduating second in her class at Riverside High School she tooke advantage of many evening classes in various colleges in Ellwood City as she raised her family and worked the Penney Co. and was very active in the Knox Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City serving as Elder several terms; teaching Sr. High School students in church school church secretary for 7 years and was also elected to the auditors of the Franklin Township district and served for 10 years. She was a member of the Women?s Club in Ellwood City and an officer. She was twice chosen as the adult past age 70 who had contributed so much of her time and talents to the church. She also served as moderator of the committee to search for a replacement for the Pastor Raymond Pitzer who retired after 25 years of service. The local Rev. Howard Parker was selected to succeed Rev. Pitzer and he served 25 years before retiring 2 years ago. She was an active member of the Presidents Women?s Organization serving as president and other offices over the years. She represented her home church- Knox Presbyterian church in PA at the General Assembly once in Easter PA once in Louisville KY and once in Ames IA and once in Orlando FL. She loved the Presbyterian Church and served willingly and happily. She loved people and enjoyed being a servant of the Most High God and his children. She took water color art lessons at age 80 and did some nice pieces of work. She was a super seamstress and taught sewing to the local club group in PA. God blessed her with many talents and lots of energy which she gladly shared with others wanting to learn sewing etc.

God?s Reason
I don?t know how to say it
But somehow it seems to me
That maybe were are stationed
Where God wants us to be.
That little place we?re filling
Is the reason for our birth
And just to do the work we do
He sent us down to earth.
If God had wanted otherwise
I reckon He?d have made
Each one of us a little different
Of a worse or better grade.
And since God knows and understands
All thing of land and sea
I fancy that He placed us here
Just where He wanted us to be.
Sometime we get to thinking
As our labors we review
That we should like a higher place
With greater things to do.
But we come to the conclusion
When the envying is stilled
That the post to which God sent us
Is the post He wanted filled!
