Obituary

Glenn Wayne Stillion was born in Bend, Oregon, the seventh child of James E. and Winnie M. Stillion . He grew up in Durango, Colorado and graduated from Durango High School in 1955. He attended Fort Lewis College for two years before transferring to the University of New Mexico where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology and Counselling respectively. He carried his Western heritage and sensibility with him throughout his life. His PhD, from Florida State University in Higher Education Administration, was his most treasured educational accomplishment.
He married Judith Ann Morton in 1960. They had three children: John William, Bethany Dawn, and Daniel James. All survive him, as does one grandchild Eliana Kathleen Stillion Casey.
Glenn served as a counsellor at Michigan Technological University in the early 1960's, as Director of the Counselling Center at Florida State University, and as Dean of Students at the University of Alabama. Finally, he faithfully served as Vice-Chancellor of Student Development at Western Carolina University for 23 years. After retiring to Ormond Beach in 2004, he became a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served on the "fix-it" team for several years.
He loved his family, sports, his dogs, classic Westerns, Florida State University, and fixing things. As his granddaughter said, "Poppa is a good fixer." A kind and good man, he knew that love is a verb and he showed it everyday to all who came to know him well. We miss him.
