IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Glenda Darlene
Allen
April 1, 1947 – January 8, 2026
Glenda Darlene Allen was born on April 1st, 1947 in Reedley, California. She went home to be with Jesus on January 8th, 2026 after a long and brave fight with cancer. She graduated high school in 1965 and attended bible school at Christ for the Nations in 1976. She was a pastor's wife for twelve years and led the women of her church with integrity and compassion for the lost.
Glenda was a bold, outspoken and deeply feeling woman of faith and family. She fiercely loved her family and was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She could be brought to tears when she talked of her faith in the Lord and truly lived her life, to the best of her ability, to follow where her savior would lead her. She believed in fighting for what was right. Her children still tell the story of when she went to war with the school district over her children's education, a war she fought by herself—and won. She was a fierce woman who wasn't afraid to stand alone up against the odds.
Glenda had a quirky sense of humor, particularly anything out of pocket. From sending birthday cards about farts to her grandsons to her final words, which she said to the nurses in hospice, "I'm ready to go….but don't kill me". She loved traveling, taking her children and grandchildren to see every random, hole in the wall of note that America had to offer. She loved taco Tuesday, birds, the ocean, and had a green thumb to rival any arborist.
She was a jack of all trades in anything artistic; from an accomplished painter to a published author, she dabbled in all of it and flourished. The closets of her home are filled with sewing materials and patterns, boxes of paint brushes and paint, unfinished paintings that weren't quite perfect yet, swatches of fabric, and every tool an artist of any kind could dream of. Over her life she made dolls, took guitar lessons, went to cosmetology school and regularly redecorated her home, and she always kept a beautiful home, paying attention to the fine details, whether it was a hand painted mural or a beautifully designed table. She wrote and directed plays for her church, with all the costumes sewn by her of course—and all for the glory of God. Every gift and hobby that she acquired she laid at the feet of Jesus to use to serve His church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester & Virginia Gowen, as well as her older brother Danny and younger brother Calvin. She is survived by her beloved husband Spencer, her cherished daughter and son, Chera & Erran, their spouses David and Tara. Her grandchildren, Bethany, Jarred, Aiden & Seth , their spouses Mario & Kate, and her great grandchildren Bennett & Adelaide, as well as her older sister Ann and younger sister Carla. She was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed.
