Gladys S. Hendren 90 of Daytona Beach passed away at the Hospice Care Center on March 10 2008. Gladys was born in Beauville NC to the late Larry and Hattie Sandlin and graduated from Elon College in 1940. She taught in Alamance County and Lenoir County NC and in Glynn County GA. In 1960 she moved to Daytona where she taught Home Economics at both New Smyrna Beach High and Central Junior High until retiring in June 1983. She also taught Adult Education at CJH and DBCC. Gladys was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach Delta Kappa Gamma Retired Teachers of Volusia County and was active in the FHA. Gladys loved to travel with family and friends and enjoyed dining out. She is survived by her son Bob Hendren; grandchildren Ryan (Bea) Hendren and Thomas Hendren and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years Robert V. Hendren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Gladys to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange FL 32129.
