Gisella Benkowitsch 79 of Daytona Beach FL passed away August 2 2009 after a long illness. She was born in Szombathely Hungary on December 29 1929. In 1945 prior to the Russian invasion she and her family escaped to Augsburg Germany where she lived for 6 years. In 1952 her family immigrated to the United States. They arrived on Ellis Island NY and settled in Philadelphia. Years later she relocated to Harrisburg PA where she owned and operated a beauty shop in Paxtang for 33 years. After retiring in 1993 she relocated to the beachside of Daytona and continued to practice her beautician skills on friends and family. In addition to cosmetology she enjoyed traveling to other countries walks on the beach dinning out with friends and her companion Harald Podgora. Gisella will be remembered most for her kindness and generosity and her upbeat cheery attitude. Left to cherish her memories are her Daughter Margarete; Sons John and Tony; Grandchildren Ginger Jason Adam Anton and Beth Ann and eight Great-Grandchildren. A private memorial service was previously held.
