Pvt 1 st Class Giovanni Perez, 21 years old, of Daytona, Florida, passed away on 21 st of June 2021 at Fort Riley, Kansas.
He was born August 22, 1999, in Iquitos, Peru to Alex Giovanni Perez and Marjhory Deyvis_Cisneros. He grew up in Washingtonville, New York attended Washingtonville High School and graduated from Mainland High School in Daytona, Florida. He was a talented wrestler in both high schools and received the MVP Wrestling Award. After high school he attended Daytona State College.
Giovanni proudly served his country in the United States Army, reaching the rank of Private First Class. He was a member of Bravo Company 4-2 Attack Battalion.
He received the Army Achievement Medal for exceptional service and performance while serving as an AH-64 D Helicopter Repairer and Helicopter Crew Chief.
He was an avid Giants football fan and Knicks basketball fan through good and bad; he would attend Giants games with his father when possible. He enjoyed wrestling, music, and church. He was a devoted Christian who was active in his church and youth group at Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal MI Daytona Beach.
Survivors include his father, Alex Perez of Beacon, NY, his stepmother, Jennifer Perez of Beacon, NY; his mother Marjhory Cisneros of Miami, FL; his wife Caitlyn Cheyanne Perez of Fort Riley, KS; his stepdaughter Mia Elizabeth Huey of Fort Riley, KS; his sister Valeska S. Burnside of Kendell, FL; his brother David A. Perez of Miami, FL; his brother, Matteo P. Perez of Beacon, NY; and his sister Grace E. Perez of Beacon, NY.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 3-7 pm and on Sunday, July 4 th from 12-1 pm with services beginning at 1:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday, July 5 th at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida
