Gilbert ""Barney"" V. Rehkop age 90 of Port Orange passed away on Monday September 12 2011. A funeral service with Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM on Friday September 16 at the Cardwell Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thurs. 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Barney was born in Kansas City Missouri to Leonard and Hilda Rehkop. He dedicated his talents as a controller for NASA and later as an Insurance Agent for Western & Southern Life Insurance. He was a proud US Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII who enjoyed fishing woodworking baseball and being a Spotter in the End Turn Tower for his favored NASCAR. His parents two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death and he is survived by his wife of 29 years Hilde E. Rehkop; a daughter Linda R. (William) Banga; a grandson Christopher W.
