Obituary

Gilbert Pershing Ransley 87 left us to be with ?Babe? on Wednesday August 17th. His loving wife Catherine Grace ?Babe? Ransley Greer passed away this past April 7th. Gil the Candyman? was born in Shaft PA on September 25 1918 and in 1953 he moved to Daytona Beach. Gil was a member of the 29th Infantry Division and part of the first wave of the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach on June 6 1944. Gil received numerous medals including four battle stars two purple hearts two bronze stars and many many more. He returned to the states in 1945 to a blind date with his beloved ?Babe?. Gil was an avid fisherman dancer singer golfer master gardener and environmentalist. His memberships include Million-Dollar Club at MetLife National Assoc. of Underwriters Conservation Chairman Isaac Walton League Daytona Mens Golf Assoc. 2 holes in one! saltwater fishing assoc. Halifax River Yacht Club the Daytona Beach Elks The VFW the American Legion and he was the first president of S.O.L.V.E. save our lovely Volusia environment
Memorial Services for Gilbert will be held on Tuesday August 22nd at 500pm in the chapel of Baggett & Summers Funeral Home. Gil?s family will receive friends from 330 till time of service.
Gil is survived by a son Gilbert J. of Hawaii a daughter Cathy G. of South Daytona two grandchildren James C. Conn. and Heather of Chicago and a great grandson Jacob Conn.?Gil? say Hi to ?Babe? for us?You will both be dearly missed.
