GERTRUDE PAL LUDWIG NEUMANN

Gertrude Pal Ludwig Neumann passed away September 9 2004. She was born November 2 1907 in Tolland Connecticut to Bertha Trittenbach Ludwig and Alfred F. Ludwig. She worked at the Rockville telephone company as a young woman and married Lewis A. Neumann in 1935. The couple moved to East Hartford Connecticut where Gertrude was a home maker and began her art education. She moved to Florida in 1973 and resided on Ridge Ave Holly Hill; Magnolia Ave Ormond Beach; and lastly at Bishops Glen since 2004.
She is predeceased by her husband of 48 years Lewis Alfred Neumann of Rockville Connecticut.
Throughout her long career as an award winning artist beginning in 1956 Pal became well know in both Connecticut and Florida for her realistic oil paintings of local scenes historical landmarks florals murals miniatures and portraits. She also taught oil painting in adult education and privately in East Hartford Connecticut and Florida. She was an active member of the Bishop?s Glen Art Group and gave painting demonstrations for organizations and convalescent homes. She loved teaching adults especially seniors to realize their own talents. Gertrude Neumann?s paintings have been displayed at the Phoenix Building and the Wardsworth Athenaeum in Hartford Connecticut and many art shows throughout the New England States. In Florida her canvases have been on display at the Ormond Beach and Holly Hill Chambers of Commerce the Lohman Ormond Funeral Home gallery The Casements the Ormond Hotel and various commercial buildings plus the homes of local collectors. Pal believed in remaining active and a helpful member of her community. She was an active member of the Unity Church of Holly Hill and did volunteer work at Bishop?s Glen. She truly loved helping and being with people. She leaves her son Kenneth Neumann of Odum Georgia; her daughter Linda Shearer of Banning California; her brother Raymond Ludwig of Tolland Connecticut; Sister Ruth Zahner of Ellington Connecticut; Sister Helen McGill of San Francisco California; and sister in law Florence Neumann of South Windsor Connecticut. Donations may be made to the Unity Church of Holly Hill Florida. Memorial Service will be at Bishop?s Glen 900 LPGA Blvd. Holly Hill Florida on Monday September 20 at 2:00pm.
