Geraldine (Gerry) Perilli 80 Ormond Beach passed away May 16 2012. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday May 20 from 12-4 pm and from 6-10 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach with a Memorial Service at 11 am on Monday May 21 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Surviving her was her loving and devoted husband Nicholas (Nick) of almost 55 years and her four adoring children Kathy Jackoway Studio City CA Nick Perilli Jr. and his wife Debbie Palm Coast Dina Maugeri and husband Rick Ormond Beach and Lori Pryt and husband Bob San Francisco CA; along with 11 caring grandchildren. Gerry was born on March 4 1932 in Mount Vernon NY the daughter of Bartolomeo and Rose Marie Ferrara. She grew up in a loving family with two sisters and a brother. After she graduated from Davis High School in Mount Vernon she worked as a bookkeeper. It was at Davis High School that she first met her future husband Nick where they casually dated and went to the senior prom together. Nick went into the Navy and when he came home on leave they again dated. In 1955 a year after his discharge they unexpectedly met when Gerry was standing outside of her home as Nick was walking by- it was the beginning of a romance that lasted 57 years! By November 1956 they were engaged and were married on July 13 1957 at Our Lady of Victory Church. Gerry and Nick moved their growing family which included 4 children to Garnerville NY and then finally to Mahopac NY where they lived happily for 30 years. Gerry was the most loving mother any child could ask for and the most devoted wife any man could have dreamed of. She loved nurtured and protected us from the world. She was the type of mother that taught her kids cartwheels for cheerleading lead Boy Scout troops was room mother for our classrooms hand-made costumes for Halloween was there to help with homework and projects sat through countless plays recitals practices baseball games made every birthday special every Christmas and Easter a magical memory and laid out bowls glasses utensils and vitamins at the breakfast table to remind us to eat breakfast through high school! She was the ultimate example of unselfish love; we knew we were blessed and so fortunate to have belonged to her. When the grandchildren came into the picture her mothering instincts kicked into high gear; when you came to visit grandma you didn't need ANYTHING- not a crib a stroller a high chair a playpen a toynothing! If we were amazed at her capacity to love her children then we were in awe of the tremendous patience kindness and adornment she blanketed her 11 grandchildren in. There was nothing she wouldn't do for anyone she cared about and nothing she wouldn't give and knowing her whatever it was that you needed she probably could pull out of a bag stashed in her closet! This woman did all of this and had her own successful business and only worked on Sunday so she would be there for the family every day of the week. Besides her husband children and grandchildren Gerry cherished her dogs: Cher Brandy and Rambo. She enjoyed traveling and vacations with her family visiting; Spain Italy France Bermuda and the Bahamas. In 2004 Gerry and Nick retired to Ormond Beach to enjoy a more relaxed snow-free lifestyle.
