A Memorial Service for George Al' Watkins 91 of Holly Hill who passed away Wednesday January 28th 2009 after a long illness will be held at Bishop's Glen 900 LPGA Blvd. Holly Hill Saturday February 7 2009 at 10 AM. Born on May 31 1917 in Harrison Arkansas; he was a long time resident of Pensacola Florida after retiring from the United States Navy with a rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served on many aircraft carriers with the last service on the USS Ranger. After retirement from the Navy he worked as a mechanic for Eastern Airlines until retiring after 15 years. He was married over 55 years and will now join his wife Irene and daughter Dale in Heaven. His daughter Lorale Ruland Ormond Beach grandsons James Naumann Tallahassee Florida and David Naumann Austin Texas and three nieces survive him. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid swimmer. He was a devout Christian through out his life. He was loved by many through the years and touched hearts with his life stories. He will be laid to rest in his family plot in Harrison Arkansas Monday February 2 2009. The many friends and associations he has made will miss him.
