George Thomas Hobbs "Papa George" of Daytona Beach FL passed away April 13 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was 72. George was born in Wilkes-Barre PA. He and his wife Marie moved to Daytona in 1973.
George served his country in the US Navy as a gunner's mate on the USS Boston and the USS Macon. He entered the health field and worked as a patient care technician for Florida Hospital in the ASU.
He loved to read and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a train and lighthouse enthusiast. He was a "tinkerer" always working on little projects around the house.
George will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years Marie J.; by his son George T. Hobbs III (Karen); by his daughters: Linda Day Ruth Wimberly (Dale) and Marie A. Hobbs; by his adopted daughter Deborah Peterson; and by family friend Polly Ann English; by his 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; by his sister-in-law JoAnn Kreller and nephew Harold Kreller Jr. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Cardwell Funeral Home.
