George William Smith II, 78, of Daytona Beach Fl. passed away Thursday February 22, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.

Mr. Smith was born August 1, 1939 in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of the late William Lyle and Billie (Smith) Smith. He grew up in Tampa and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science

Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and the US Coast Guard serving his country from 1963 till 1969.  He worked for years in the aerospace and electrical engineering industry working for Electronic Communications Inc., Motorola, General Electric, and Lockheed Martin.

After retirement, George and Clarke enjoyed travelling the world and visiting their daughter in New England.

He is survived by his wife, Clarke Smith, his daughter, Catherine Renée Smith, his brother-in-law, Everett Holland and his dear friends, Reba Peters and Delores Blankenship.

The family is forever grateful for the wonderful care and friendship from his caregivers over the last 2 ½ years, with special thanks to Liz Clark and Trisha Rice.

The family will receive friends Monday February 26, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona from 12 noon till 1:00 pm and funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Daytona Memorial Park.
