A memorial service for George Calvin Shotwell Sr. 79 who entered into heaven peacefully on January 26 2008 will be held at 2:00pm Thursday January 31 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach 118 N. Palmetto Ave. Daytona Beach FL. He entered into life on December 30 1928 in Asheville N.C. to Lonnie T. and Annie Bell Shotwell and was one of thirteen children. George was an avid football player. He played in high school junior college the Navy and at UF. He served four years in the Navy. He graduated from the University of Miami by attending night school while working for Florida Power & Light and raising a family. George loved his job and retired from FPL after 33 years of service. George was the past President of Civitan where he was among the top salespeople for all of the Chamber of Commerce's of the United States as well as being recognized for outstanding service as a member of the Board of Governors for the Daytona & Halifax area Chamber of Commerce. George was a man of honor a man of humor and a true gentleman who loved life. He was a very loving Husband father and grandfather. He also loved to travel loved his friends and his God. George leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years Norma; his daughter Pam Carollo and her husband Jerry of San Diego CA; his son George C. Jr and his wife Kathy of Ocala; a brother Harry Shotwell and two sisters Sarah Wiggins & Louise Smith all of Asheville NC; his grandchildren: Jerry Carollo Jr Dana Carollo both of San Diego CA LeaMarie Garrido of Ocala Ted Tilton Jr of Okeechobee along with five great-grandchildren and many loving friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Debt Relief Fund of George's beloved First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach 118 N. Palmetto Ave Daytona Beach FL 32114.
