George C. Pace age 95 died February 26 2011. George was born October 9 1915 to A.C and Alice Pace in Eastman GA. All of his family and friends will greatly miss him.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" at 10 a.m. on March 7 2011 at Baggett & Summers Funeral Home 736 Beach Street Daytona Beach. There will be a Visitation at 9 a.m. prior to service time. Burial will take place at Daytona Memorial Park 1423 Bellevue Ave Daytona Beach 32114.
George was the youngest of 6 children and grew up on a farm. While growing up he played for the State Championship basketball team. He married Margaret Pace June 23rd 1940. They were married for 59 years and 9 months before she went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. George and Margaret built the marriage on Christian principles and raised their two sons in the Baptist Church faith. He worked for Borden's Dairy and Florida Power & Light during his career and retired with FP&L as assistant supervisor after 38 ½ years.
In 2003 George found love a second time and married Betty Joe Murphy. They lovingly enjoyed each other's company for 8 wonderful years.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his current wife Betty Jo Pace and his two sons George Michael (coach Pace) and Dr. T. Melvin Pace two grandchildren Melanie Broad and Shannon Everhart and 4 great grandchildren Brodie and Brooke Everhart and William Richardson and Jacob Stone and one sister Lorene along with multiple nieces nephews and friends.
George is preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Pace; two brothers Terrell and Malone; and two sisters Mattie Lee and Lura.
George served in the US Navy during WWII with a tour of duty in the Pacific and finished at Jacksonville Naval Base.
