George M. Mirabal

On August 10, 2021, George Molina Mirabal, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Although fully vaccinated, George contracted the coronavirus and lost his battle after twelve days due to underlying conditions.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. George was a graduate of Thiel College and realized his passion after landing his first position at Benton Harbor/St Joseph Chamber of Commerce. With nearly 20 years of chamber experience, George moved to Daytona Beach, with his wife, Joyce, in 1987 as CEO of the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce.  George was passionate about his wife, his family, friends and community. For George, the evening was not over until he received his second passion.....Ice Cream!

He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Joyce (Watzelhan), his sons; George Jr., and John (Linda) Wright; daughters Linda (William) Mirabal, Coleen (Sonny) Donaldson; his brothers Kenne Mirabal, Keith Mirabal, and Jim Hollywood; grandchildren Austen Matranga, Sean Williams, Chris (Shannon) Wright, Amanda (Jay) Fripp and seven great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his father, Ralph C Mirabal, Sr., his mother Marian Clark Mirabal, and his brother, Ralph Mirabal, Jr.

A visitation will be held August 16, 2021 from 9:30 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. at Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond Beach. A graveside service will be held at Daytona Memorial Park beginning at noon. COVID-19 safety precautions will be taken at both events. Face masks are required .
