A Mass of Christian Burial for George Thomas Merisko 79 of Ormond Beach who passed away on Tuesday December 12 2006 will be held at 11am on Monday December 18 2006 at the Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church with the Reverend Timothy Daly Pastor officiating. His family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday December 17 2006 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd Ormond Beach. A Prayer Service with the saying of the Rosary will be held and officiated by the deceased's cousin Deacon Edward Danko. Mr. Merisko was born April 13 1927 in Windber PA the Son of John J. and Margaret Danko Merisko. He graduated form Windber High School with the class of 1945. He served in the US Navy during WW II in the Philippines and then as a Naval Reservist until 1955. He married Nancy M. Kovacic July 16 1949. He Apprenticed as a carpenter becoming a Journeyman Carpenter in 1954 and later a Master Journeyman. He earned his Bachelor's and Masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Vocational Education. He taught in the Vocational-Technical High Schools of Greene County PA Wilkes-Barre PA and Charles County MD and the Harrisburg Community College. He was active in the Vocational Education State Association serving as President and helping to establish the guidelines for interschool competitions. He retires from teaching in 1989. Survivors include his wife Nancy a Daughter Joey Meris-Kelly of Ormond Beach a Son Ronald George Meris of Waldorf Maryland 2 Grandsons Shaun Kelly Ronald George Meris Jr. a Granddaughter Nancy Ambert 2 Sisters Mary Sankovich Orlando and Geri Martell Florence MS.
