George Albert Lages

George Albert Lages of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully Sunday October 8th, 2023 at the age of 75.  George was surrounded by his immediate family while enjoying the week's NASCAR race, just as he would have wished.
George was born to Albert and Margaret Lages on July 2nd, 1948 in the Bronx, New York.  After graduating high school, he joined the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War.  Following his military service, George met Diane Robel, who later became his wife.  The couple moved to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1984 where they raised their two children, Justin and Amie.
George was known throughout the community as an incredibly generous person.  His infectious smile and friendly personality had the remarkable ability to brighten the days of both friends and strangers alike.  He often left a lasting impact on people he met, even after only brief interactions.  George was also an avid fan of NASCAR and the late driver, Dale Earnhardt.  In keeping with his fun loving demeanor, George was known to often paint a large number three on buildings in honor of his favorite driver while working as a painting contractor.
Most importantly, George will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather as time with his family is what brought him the most joy.  He is survived by his wife of fifty years Diane, his sister Lorraine, his children Justin (Jacqueline) and Amie (Derek), as well as five grandchildren Wyatt, Eva, Marin, Casen, and Hadlie.  George will be deeply missed by his family and friends.  The many great memories he created over the years will undoubtedly serve as a source of comfort and strength.
A ceremony to honor George's life will be held on Sunday October 22nd, 2023 at 5:30pm at Lohman Funeral Home ORMOND , 733 West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
