Obituary

George M. Hoeck III, 70, of Port Orange, Fl. passed away at his home Saturday, November 14. George was born in Oak Park, Illinois on June 17th 1945 to George and Natalie Hoeck. In the late 50's, the Hoecks moved to Ridgewood, New Jersey where George would attend and graduate high school. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1963. George reached the rank of Senior Airman E4 before his Honorable Discharge in 1967. A good portion of his duty time was spent in the great state of Alaska, and George always held a fondness for "the last frontier". After leaving the Air Force, George moved to Florida, met and married Cheryl, in 1969, and attended Embry Riddle University, earning a degree in Aircraft Mechanics. He enjoyed the Florida Lifestyle, especially the weather, which afforded him plenty of time for his hobbies; bicycling and golf. George leaves behind his three children, Tonia (Roman) Yurkiewicz, George M. Hoeck IV (Shawna Silvia), and Amanda Hoeck (Jeremy Richard), his brother, Carl Hoeck of Chicago, his nephews, Kevin, Daniel , Eric, and Steven and his six grandchildren, Christopher, Zosia, Jayla, Shae, Jayce and Alynah. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, November 23 at Lohman Funeral Home in Daytona Beach beginning at 3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 4:30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in George's name to: The Michael J. Fox Foundation P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, Md. 21741-5014.
