George E. Higle's Obituary
George E. Higle Jr., 86, a resident of Daytona Beach, FL, passed away on August 31, 2016.
George was born on August 22, 1930, in Tarrytown, NY, to the late George and Georgiana (Helen) Higle. After graduating from Washington Irving High, he joined the US Navy and served until 1953. After leaving the Navy, George worked for Cooney Brothers' managing concrete block and asphalt plants. He retired in 1986 from the Village of Tarrytown where he worked in community redevelopment and was a building inspector. George was involved in the Kiwanis of Tarrytown, the Tarrytowners' and Proud of It, and enjoyed playing golf in his retirement.
George is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Deverill whom he was married to for 58 years. Survivors include his children, Robert (Kathy) and Susan (Bob) Wise; three grandchildren, Sarah, Robert Jr., and George III, and one great grandchild (Faith). George will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather.
A visitation will be held at Dwyer Vanderbilt Funeral Home in Tarrytown, NY. A Catholic mass will be held at Mary Magdalene Church in Pocantico Hills, NY followed by internment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to AM Vets at http://amvetsnsf.org/donations/
