George Robert Gildea age 91 of Daytona Beach passed away on Sunday December 9 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. A viewing will be held Tuesday December 11th in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona between the hours of 4:00 - 7:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Basilica of Saint Paul Catholic Church Daytona Beach Wednesday December 12 at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. George was born in Newport Kentucky on March 30th 1921 and was the son of the late George and Marie Gildea. He served in WWII in the United States Navy. George is preceded in death by his son Thomas Gildea and daughter Deborah Gildea Veino. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Betty Gildea two sons; Stephen Gildea of Hampton VA and James Gildea of Tampa FL five daughters; Patricia Gildea of Chattanooga TN Maureen Phifer of Kennesaw GA Margaret Thomas of Edgewater FL Kathleen Lahiry of Flowery Branch GA Mary Ann Jackson of Ozark AL 21 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
