George Gelow age 87 of Port Orange passed away on Tuesday January 17 2012. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona on Thursday January 26 2012. The family will receive guest from 5:00 p.m until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. George was born on February 20 1924 in Brunswick Georgia to the late Hattie and George Gelow Sr. Following high school he served proudly in the United States Navy. The Gelow family moved to this area in 1974 and George and Pat founded A1A Roofing Company. George enjoyed many things such as fishing and coin collecting but his happiness came from spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted husband father grandfather and great-grandfather who put all before himself. He is survived by two sons George Jr. (Debby) of South Daytona and James (Linda) of Port Orange; nine grandchildren Jimmy Shannon Shawna Mary Derick George Jennifer Jenna and Adam; three great-grandchildren Daniel Jaiden and Jax. He was preceded in death by his wife Pat Gelow and son Kenneth Gelow. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange Fl 32129. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona.
