Obituary

George W. Freeman, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 3:20 pm.

Born to John H. Freeman Jr. and Coreen Dennis-Freeman on June 3, 1926 in Cayce, South Carolina, George moved to Miami, FL in 1957 where he met his wife, Alzona. They moved their family to Atlanta in 1980 and later to Deltona FL where he lived the final days of his life. He worked for Delta Air Lines and retired with 38 years of service. George, a devout Christian and family man, enjoyed spending his time worshipping, fishing, and with family and friends. He is the founder of Brownsville Church of Christ, Miami, FL; was a member of Opa Locka Church of Christ, Miami Gardens, FL; Liberty City Church of Christ, Miami, FL; 54th Street Church of Christ, Miami, FL; Hillcrest Church of Christ, Decatur, GA; Avondale Church of Christ, Decatur, GA; Lithonia Church of Christ, Lithonia, GA; Conyers Church of Christ, Conyers, GA; and most recently an active member of Deltona Church of Christ, Deltona, FL.

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his loving wife Alzona Freeman and their children, Fredrick (Jitter) Freeman of Columbia, SC, Larry Freeman of Columbia, SC, Harriett Freeman of Stone Mountain, GA, Jackie Wilson-Butler of Miami, FL, Dannie (Tick) Rivers of Deerfield Beach, FL, Raqueeb Albaari of Detroit, MI, Georgette (Gigi, Jr.) McKay of Stone Mountain, GA, Ethel (Joyce) Freeman of Deltona, FL, Lorri Mason of Douglasville, GA, Tomeshi (Meshi) Freeman of Stone Mountain, GA, Gregory Butler of Atlanta, GA. George is also survived by 3 Daughter-In Laws, and 1 Son-in Law. His passion in life was his grandchildren of which he adored; 25-grandchildren, 24 great-grand children, 2-great, great grandchildren.

George Freeman was known by relatives and friends as a very compassionate, respectful, and caring person who loved the lord. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Services will be held at Deltona Church of Christ 1301 Providence Blvd. Deltona, FL 32725 on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 3:00p.m. WAKE: Friday July 18th, 6pm - 10pm at Deltona Church of Christ. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday July 19th 1 - 3pm also at Deltona Church of Christ, with a final memorial service to be held on Saturday July 19th, 3 - 4pm at Deltona Church of Christ with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Deltona Church of Christ,1301 Providence Blvd. Deltona, FL 32725.
